Lonsdale Neighbors

Oakwood is a beautiful little Tree City. Bound by the southern border of Dayton and northern border of Kettering, the city of Oakwood, Ohio lies atop a hilly area covered in mature trees and stately homes. In the early 20th Century, Oakwood real estate attracted a large crowd of newcomers as it became a place of rescue from the flooded valleys of Dayton. Recognized as the former home of notable residents such as John Henry Patterson and Orville Wright, this city currently serves as home to approximately 10,000 residents spread across nearly three square miles of land. The community parks preserve the beauty of a natural lush setting and provide a peaceful place of relaxed leisure for Oakwood residents to enjoy.

The housing selection in this fine community reflects the beauty of historic architectural styles including various colonial, gothic, Tudor and Swiss Chalets building fashions. Families who opt to live in Oakwood may delight in the chance to visit family-friendly attractions like Paramount Kings' Island Amusement Park or the United States Air Force Museum. With easy access to highways, it's a quick commute to Wright Patterson AFB, downtown Dayton, and surrounding communities of Centerville, Washington Township, Beavercreek and Kettering. Residents take great pride in their common care to maintain their lawns and the general aesthetic appeal of their homes, so much so that the city offers beautification awards to owners of various homes with notable charm.

The city of Oakwood is known primarily for its upscale neighborhoods, which feature mature estates built around the time of World War II on larger plots of land. Despite the affluent nature of the community, there is still a nice selection of affordable real estate listings in Oakwood to give adequate housing options to a wide range of interested buyers.

The neighborhood is perfect for walking, with level sidewalks along wide boulevards, or hilly roads, even trails through woods and along creekbeds, all within blocks of Lonsdale House. As a military family, we have lived all over, both overseas and in many communities in the States, and we've never found a more ideal locale in which to raise a family or retire. Award-winning schools, beautiful homes bordered by tree-lined streets, and all the conveniences of the city make Oakwood a highly coveted and pleasurable place to live. And being centrally located in the heart of Oakwood makes Lonsdale House a short and easy walk from all the city's popular destinations.
